Alliance for Multicultural Education

The Alliance for Multicultural education is a Kentucky based organisation which provides a forum for those involved in higher education.  AME members meet regularly to discuss critical issues in multiculturalism; explore avenues for promoting rigorous and critical analysis of  these issues and incorporate within these debates ways in which a broader understanding of multiculturalism can enrich our society, foster tolerance and nurture cultural diversity and difference. The Alliance publishes occasional monographs which address issues related to its mission statement.
MISSION STATEMENT

AME advocates multicultural education as a philosophy and a process and works to assure that all learners receive an equitable, quality education.  AME also seeks to promote the principles of a democratic society which is built on the foundation of respecting and nurturing differences in perspectives among people and cultures.  It is through these principles that all people can exercise their right to self determination and at the same time advance their community, state and the nation as a whole, to the highest levels of excellence.
